Justice does not understand celebrities, social classes or professions. The musician is no exception. Throughout history there has been musical artists who have ended up behind bars, although it is true that their stay has been more a visit than a long condemnation. Their payrolls make them live like kings and in case of some other excess, they also serve to open the cell ... In 2011, D'Arcy Wretzky, the former bass player for The Smashing Pumpkins, was arrested in Michigan for failing to pay the fine or to appear at the subpoenas on the scandal set up by her horses that escaped from her farm. The equidae were running free to the city, with the danger that might have supposed. But this is only the last case of a large list of musicians arrested.
In spite of possessing great fortunes, often, the money or the sudden lack of it, is usually the direct person in charge of many of its actions. It is usually the addition to some kind of drug and their possession that leads them to prison, but there are many other reasons. To the rhythm of the 'Rock of prison' of Elvis Presley we reviewed 10 of the best known cases:
1. Frank Sinatra
In 1938, at the age of 23, Frank Sinatra was arrested and charged with adultery after having intercourse with a married woman. In the end, he was acquitted for reasons that are not known very well. Nevertheless, his visit to the jail took place before becoming the star of the cinema and the music that would end up being until the end of its days, but several times it was related to him to the world of the Mafia.
2. Jimi Hendrix
Considered by many to be the best guitarist in rock history, he was stopped at the Toronto airport in May 1969 after customs inspectors found heroin and hashish in their luggage. However, Hendrix was soon released from jail when he was cleared of charges. Luck for him and his legion of fans ...
3. Jim Morrison
On September 20, 1970, they arrested the iconic leader of The Doors. He was sentenced to six months in prison accused of blasphemy and indecent exposure during a concert in which many said he showed his penis to the public. For fear of ending up in prison, the lizard king decided to leave the music and move to Paris, where months later would pass away.
4. Mick Jagger
Both he and his party buddy, Keith Richards, were well-known in the 60's for their endless and wild parties where they mixed all kinds of prohibited substances. The singer was arrested several times by the police for possession of narcotics, but thanks to a good wallet he managed to dodge the prison.
5. David Bowie
In March 1976, the great David Bowie was arrested after a concert in New York when he was in the company of Iggy Pop. The singer was charged with possessing marijuana when he was 29 years old. The artist, very elegant in the image, spent a few hours behind bars before being released without charge.
6. Ozzy Osbourne
The legendary singer of Black Sabbath knows jails of all sizes and colors, but it was in his first instance when he tattooed on the knuckles the classic OZZY. The singer was arrested after stealing a dark clothing store. When he left the establishment, he noticed that the clothes were for children. A witness saw everything and the singer was taken to prison where he shared cell with a serial killer.
7. James Brown
The brilliant soul and funk singer was arrested in 1988 after appearing with a revolver in hand, at an insurance seminar. He tried to escape and that only added faults: speeding, drug use, assault and disobedience of a police order. Brown was sentenced to six years' imprisonment, although he eventually quit in 1991. He was released at the cry of "I feel good" one of his best-known songs.
8. Kurt Cobain
On May 18, 1986, a still unknown Kurt Cobain was arrested by the Washington police. The singer was reportedly strolling the roof of an abandoned building, but was charged with trespassing on a private property upon entering without permission. He was 19, but this was not his first experience. A year earlier he was arrested for vandalism.
9. Michael Jackson
Perhaps the most sounded case in the history of 'musical arrests'. The king of pop was arrested in 2003 after being accused of abusing a 12-year-old boy on his sprawling Neverland estate (the second indictment in less than 10 years). Jackson spent a few hours in the "sack," but he was not even one night when his lawyers agreed a $ 3 million bond that released him.
10. Marilyn Manson
Brian Warner (his real name) was charged in 2001 for assaulting one of the security guards during a concert in Detroit. The singer paid the fine, but in 2004 he was again accused of crossing the same guard at one of his concerts. The eccentric singer caught him by the chin and assaulted him sexually. Apparently he rubbed his genitals by the head, but he got rid of the jail after giving in return an economic compensation.
