Singing On !Pitch
The best way to learn how to sing on key is to actually hear yourself sing. If you want to use a pitch meter, there are many apps which do their best to measure your pitch within the limits of your device. But bear in mind, you won't have a pitch meter on stage, so why not become self-sufficient from the beginning?
Your tone of voice could sound smooth and appealing but that may be lost on the listener if you are not singing the right notes of the song. Singing on key/pitch comes naturally for some singer but could post as a challenge for others. Don't worry if you fall into the later group because if you are able to listen and appreciate music, you already instinctively know what sounds right or wrong. You just need to train yourself to match your voice with what you are hearing with your ears.
Work on this by:
◼striking a key on the piano or guitar (or a piano app. on your smartphone) and try to sound the particular pitch with your voice.
◼You should keep striking the particular key at intervals while you sustain the sound with your voice.
◼ You may record the process for better feedback
◼ When in tune, your voice and the piano will sound in unison (sound as one).
◼ When out of tune, your voice will clash with the piano in an unpleasant way.
◼ Try several keys/pitches
◼ Some notes will sound easier than others.
◼ Don't be discouraged, many singers struggle with pitch at one point.
◼ Don't think of the note as a target, let your voice naturally find it.
◼With time, you will be able to match pitches almost subconsciously
