In the ongoing battle between whether I use Youtube or Spotify to have an ongoing fresh set of music in the background at work. Spotify has delivered some classics which start almost every single day.
Even if these songs are not the very first ones being played in the morning they will definitely show up multiple times during the day.
First is probably my favourite, and really this groups entire album and other songs are fun, but Murder Murder by the group American Murder Song just has the right feel.
It captures every thought and musing one might have when customers appear, really it is great for any occasion.
American Murder Music ~ Murder Murder
A bit more upbeat one from their album seems to be everyone's favourite, and I merely add it here because of how catchy albeit possibly generic it is, although if you check their album out I think there are some more gems.
The song covers the urban legend of Lavinia Fisher, and although I tend to not know too much of the lyrics I pick up enough to know their whole album is similar to the talentless Skynd who tell stories of mass shootings and such events in songs.
The difference American Murder Song actually writes proper lyrics and makes good music whereas Skynd sounds like a kindergarten pretending to be batman reciting mary had a little lamb from a dark corner.
American Murder Music ~ Lavinia
Another from them that I really like is Edward, it has some eerie high points that make you want to stab someone or at least smile while imagining it.
A lot of these types of darker if you like, but fun bands come up when I search under the Southern Gothic genres.
The Bad Things ~ Kill Yourself
This is probably the first and last song I force spotify to play and maybe another three times during the day. It is a great motivator to zone out to and just do work without whoever it is you are helpings existence mattering in any way.
In short it is a great smile and wave song. A Shut down, zone out and get the fuck on with it song.
From there Spotify usually will add some Poor Man's Poison and other variants which I still try and tweak as the goes by and I think the daily mixes are a bit better but has a long way to go when it comes to fresh music discovery.
Aside from the keystones of all work music anything really goes and trails into some more country-oriented songs like;
Colter Wall ~ Sleeping on the blacktop
or mixing it up with some Serj and or dubstep, electronic music or old just instrumental works well enough to just have focus on the music and get through what will and always shall be a festering time.
