What is "Melonious Thonk"?
Melonious Thonk is an experimental series that explores music presented through a variety of formats. In previous episodes, I've covered: a specific genre from a specific era; samples that were used for an artist's album; history of a certain song; spotlighting an album; and showcasing a collection of live sessions.
The ultimate goal of this series is to share my passion for music with the Steemit community.
In this particular episode, I will be continuing from part one and two of live sessions.
Okay, but WHAT is "Melonious Thonk"?
Thelonious Monk, but with the first letters of the words reversed. American jazz composer and pianist, Thelonious Sphere Monk, is known for his radical unorthodox improvisational playing style which features angular melodic twists and dissonances; also, his style was awkward and clunky which was somewhat disoriented in nature and scatterbrained. I admire his genius, inventiveness, and originality. My favorite of The Mad Monk's jazz repertoire is "'Round Midnight".
