The Red Hot Chili Peppers are one of the biggest bands of the last 25 years. Based out of California, the funk influenced rock group have sold millions upon millions of albums. The group is comprised of Anthony Kiedis (vocals), Flea (bass/vocals), Josh Klinghoffer (guitar/vocals), and Chad Smith (drums).
The group has had several different lineup changes, however this group has played together for the last 7 years. They are on a tour currently following the realease of their recent album The Getaway.
I was lucky enough to attend their concert in Little Rock back in April. The show was opened up by a short performance from their former drummer Jack Irons, and a great set from the Japanese metal band Baby Metal. The chili pepper's set was nothing short of amazing. They opened with "Can't Stop" and established the energy of the show. Every member looked passionate and excited to play their stuff. The big suprise of the show for me was Klinghoffer. I feel like he really came into his own. The lights that they had set up really made the experience even better. I would give the show a 10 out of 10.
I see these articles and comments on forums saying how RHCP is an overrated group and for the life of me I don't know how someone could believe that. They have done so much for music with their unique sound and their unparalled passion towards live music. Maybe people have forgotten about the masterpieces Blood Sugar Sex Magic, Californiacation, By the Way, Stadium Arcadium, etc. I'm not saying they are the beatles, but come on, they have established themselves as one of the all time greats. In short, music critics, stop making sh*t so complicated, good music is good music.
Cheers
