Okay.... My first post in this music group π. To be honest I've subscribed for almost three weeks now and didn't know what to post on it. At first you'll think it's a group for instrumentalists and aspiring musician's only so I was a bit perturbed about how to go about it π. So I was scanning here last week Friday and I came upon a post by about a Three Tunes Tuesday (#ttt) so here I am posting mine.
So like here we go;
The three songs I'll be posting are rap songs and have one thing in common; it depicts the feelings said rapper's had when they where at a breaking point in their career. I've always said that rap is the best form of music (no offense to other styles), for it's deep beats and from the pens of geniuses even deeper lyrics, reach the soul like any other genre can.
BREATHE-NF
My first song of the day is from the sad genius NF. Nathan John Feuerstein also known by his initials NF is an American singer, song writer, rapper, record producer and most recently father. His life troubled by OCD and the loss of his mother has given him great material over the years to write plenty crazy songs.
This track Breathe is the 5th song on his 2nd album therapy session. It talks about how his dream took him away from his quiet life in the country and how the music industry isn't what he thought it would be. It also talks about how his youthful self was always restless and sometimes how his restlessness brings damage to those around him. The song is a typical sad song as the beat and tunes brings a sort of serene feel to it.
BLACK BOY FLY- KENDRICK LAMAR
I don't think there's any need for introducing this hip-hop legend. Kendrick Lamar is one of the most prominent black rapper's of our time. Growing up from the streets of Compton, Kendrick made his way up giving us great music's of the likes of Humble, Keisha's Song and Sing about me. His latest album to me is one of his best and The Heart part 5 is just a lyrical masterpiece.
The track Black Boy Fly is a bonus track on his good kid . maad city deluxe album. This album was talking about the mental stress Kendrick Lamar had in this city with killings and the gang wars everywhere. In this track, Kendrick Lamar was talking about how hard it was for people to make it out of Compton. Rapping about how when he was young he used to be jealous of those that had made it out, how he followed them and looked at what they were doing. At the last verse he then reflected at what he could do professing that he wasn't indeed jealous at their talent but was terrified that they would be the last black boys to fly out of Compton.
WALK ON WATER- EMINEM
Eminem surely needs no introductions after all his done so I'm skipping straight to the song.
It would be odd to hear the rap god being almost close to tear's but it did happen on this track. Walk on Water which is the first track on his revival album, the artist teamed up with BeyoncΓ© for her amazing vocals on the chorus. In this song Eminem reflected on how the expectations for him were too high, he couldn't cope with such complaining about how exhaustive it was. This feeling made him stress hard for his songs and lash out on others. He also reflected about how his initial fans who where with him during his teen years when he was young and reckless are now against him, lamenting if his fame had ended. To be honest this song is just a rollercoaster of emotions and I can't type everything so it's best to hear it yourself.
That's all for my Three Tunes Tuesday, thanks to for such a wonderful opportunity.
If you've read to the end thank you and comment your favorite of the three tracks β₯οΈ
