has been running the #metalweekend tag for a while now encouraging people to share some favourite heavy music. Of course metal covers a huge range and that can include ballads, but there's generally some heavy guitar in there somewhere. Here are some I've dredged up from my memories.
Diamond Head - Canterbury
I used to use the local library to borrow albums (on vinyl back then). Of course as a poor teenager I would often tape these. I would try all sorts and discovered a few bands that way. This was one I had on tape, but that cassette is long gone. I recently re-discovered the album as a Youtube playlist and here's the title track. There's some elements of Queen in there.
Queen - Keep Yourself Alive
Talking of Queen, one of my all time favourite bands. They might not be classed as metal, but they could be as heavy as many metal bands and Freddie had one of the best voices in rock.
Led Zeppelin - Communication Breakdown
Going back to the roots of metal you can't ignore Led Zep. Page was a master of riffs and this is one of my favourites.
Here's the latest main post.
