Yesterday there was an event on the Arlesey sport field to mark the royal wedding. There were various food stalls and lots of things for the kids to play on as long as the parents kept paying. I was was mainly there as there was a live music stage where I was able to play as well as hear a lot of others. I was on as part of an open mic session where I could play a couple of songs.
I did Mr Blue Sky by ELO as well as my own song about Ikea. I also did a couple with the clarinettist you can see lurking to the left.
After the open mic we had a number of more accomplished musicians doing sets. There was a good variety and it included some I hadn't heard before. The post title refers to a Kinks song that was very appropriate for the weather. One of the guys sang it and that caused on of the others to change his set list as he'd planned to do it too.
I was called up for some backing vocals too.
Here's a wide shot that Google Photos put together to give an idea of what was going on. It wasn't packed, but this is not a huge community. There were probably a few hundred people there, but they were not all listening to our music. I don't mind. Note the horsebox near the stage that contained a bar!
See if you can spot where this image was sewn together. There's a detached leg in there :)
It was a great afternoon of music. I have grown to enjoy performing. I just need to work on some more songs to play.
Rock on!
