The latest edition of the No Guitar is Safe podcast features ukulele master Jake Shimabukuro. I heard about him a while back and he really takes the instrument to a new level. I've played some uke, but I mostly just strum a few basic chords.
The guy plays Bohemian Rhapsody on uke! In the podcast he goes into some details of how he approached the song. It was a real challenge. There's some music theory talk, but also some about how Bruce Lee and Michael Jordan inspired him. I love hearing people discussing their craft and this is a great example. He also gets the sweetest harp-like tone. Okay, so he has a nice instrument, but it's largely down to how you play.
I plan to get another uke some time. I had a cheap one, but my daughter took it to university. I could do with an electro-acoustic one to play at the pub. Maybe I'll be able to buy one with Steem this year!
