I am excited to be blogging on Hive again as I embark on a project featuring one of my big loves in life… and that of course is MUSIC !!
Not since I did my Music Legends series featuring my Vinyl collection have I been as enthusiastic to post. In the early 2000’s I purchased a small book featuring the best selling albums of the 80’s. It is a goldmine of information and of course great music. I plan to do a daily series for 100 days counting down the top 100 albums including two or three tracks from each album.
If you are a music lover this is a series not to be missed!!!
The late 1970’s the music scene was still mostly pop and rock as well as the British inspired Punk Rock and Punk which was getting serious traction in the UK with bands such as The Sex Pistols. From the foreword of the book …
At the beginning of the 1980’s, it looked as if the mainstream album market might still be savaged by Punk Rock. But with the new decade came the realization that the punk revolution was too insular ever to maintain strong album sales.
Prime punk purveyors, the Sex Pistols played selected American venues in a flurry of publicity but interest soon waned. Punk was just too nasty for America. The US had the Ramones and other Punk bands, but they never really identified with Britain’s punk ethos, nurtured by the economic conditions and social divisions present in the UK at that time
Pretty decent sound... but really mild compared to the Sex Pistols ...
Sex Pistols - Anarchy in the UK
Right now I am an antichrist And I am an anarchist Don't know what I want But I know how to get it I wanna destroy the passerby 'Cause I wanna be Anarchist

Hopefully this has whet your appetite for what is to come !! Hopefully episode one will be tomorrow as I have already prepared the material. As I will be quoting extensively (summarised and direct) from the book, I have requested permission from the copyright holders. Should this not be given I shall just do my own research and proceed as such...
As always, thank you for stopping by
