It's been a good week for new music!
I discovered some great artists this week and even managed to catch some live jazz.
I met an old jazz master known among the jazz circles as Billy Johnson. You can read about him here.
New discoveries
I also found some new music in the form of old music. There is so much great music out there that finding new sounds doesn't always mean finding newly made sounds..
I came across some obscure Japanese recordings from the 70's.
The recent stuff.
I get a lot of time to find new music and it's a rewarding hobby.
I am always learning and have a deep thirst for new knowledge. Sometimes I am struck at the level musical technique can go. Although not a new discovery to me but one that was recently rekindled. I found myself listening to Jon Gomm.
He is well known so maybe this isn't a new discovery but still..
The new and unknown.
So I did delve a little into some new stuff too. I found myself sifting through some contemporary UK folk music.
This is a band from the North East UK. I found them through a friend who runs a music magazine. Let me know what you think.
My final discovery this week was some hip hop.. This guy has something about him I couldn't quite place but I liked his style, delivery and flow of words. It's not something I would listen to over and over again but I was interested enough to find out more about him.
That's been my musical discoveries for the week...
I hope you enjoy them.
