I have a large music collection - and listen to it at home and in the car. I've heard all of the songs dozens of times, so I often go for streaming at home. How can you easily improve your music streaming quality?
Get a Soundbar
Soundbars are made for streaming. When my last stereo broke, I'd had enough with all of the parts. The 4 tower speakers provided good sound, but they took up space. A $70 Vizio soundbar wasn't as good in quality, but sits in front of the TV, not taking up any extra space.
Eventually I upgraded to a JBL soundbar, that costs $250. Huge difference in sound, though the subwoofer bass isn't impressive.
Try Streaming Services
Get ready to pay $50-$100 a year on a music streaming service. Check out 4-5 before you settle on one. I use (no affiliation to them whatsoever, my reviews are honest) Radio Tunes - https://www.radiotunes.com/ - the paid version gives you a 320k stream, which is close to CD quality. They have a few apps - for rock, jazz, etc..
But don't just listen to me - find what you like - music variety and sound quality.
The Bonus
For the bonus in streaming sound quality, use a tablet for your streaming apps. Buy a cheap Android tablet for $150 if you don't have one and use it only for streaming. Connect your tablet to your soundbar, and turn Bluetooth off.
Now, you are downloading data from your router, and sending it via wire to your soundbar. I don't know how much data loss is saved, but it is working wonders for me.
I did the same with my TV. I used to use Chromecast to stream to my TV. I bought a long HDMI cable, and now I send lossless data from my laptop to my TV. Yes, even World of Warcraft and YouTube look great.
Not everyone is into sound quality, but if you are, it is easy to improve the sound without spending too much.
