Hello Steemians,
today I want to introduce to you the Hungarian celtic punk band Paddy and the Rats. They combine Irish folk music with punkrock and some gypsy elements. I really love this kind of music and thank god I found their latest release under the label Napalm Records on youtube. Two month ago I already wrote about another Hungarian band which are also playing Irish Folk music: Firkin. Seems like this music has a solid fan-base in Hungary:
Ghost From The Barrow form the album Tales From The Docks from 2012
Paddy and the Rats was founded by Paddy (singer and songwriter), Vince (bass) and Joey (guitar). Later they were completed by Sam (fiddle, tin whistle, banjo and bagpipe), Seamus (drums) and Bernie (accordion - since 2012). Through the years they released four album and the best is: the fifth is nearly released!
- 2010: Rats On Board
- 2011: Hymns for Bastards
- 2012: Tales From The Docks
- 2015: Lonely Hearts’ Boulevard
- 2018: Riot City Outlaws - coming 6th April
To give you a better feeling for the upcoming album, here's the already released song Join The Riot for it. It's very melodic, I'm curious for the rest of the album!
At gigs they play their own songs with fiddle, banjo, accordion, bagpipe, whistle – and of course, a lotta rock’n’roll. Their aim is to introduce the crowd to different kinds of pub music and pub culture…To be more precise: turn the whole world into a pub!
