Hello Steemians,
you like the 80s Glam Metal or Sleaze Rock? Then you will love these funny guys from LA. With their humor and their stereotype appearance Steel Panther created a successful concept. They say about themselves, that they are the most honest rockband out there because they sing about what they love: sex, women and drugs. Of course that's all part of the show and you should not take the lyrics to serious or offending (if you're a woman):
Death To All But Metal from the album Balls Out
You really need to read an interview with them, it's hilarious! They don't care about what others say about them. You can call them assholes because of their offensive lyrics or music-videos full of half-naked women... but they don't care. In a world full of political correctness they just want to sing about whatever they want in exactly the words they want. Although they are a little bit ironic they take their music very serious and don't want to be noticed as a fun band.
Starting as the cover-band Metal Shop in 2000 they changed their name to Metal Skool and finally to Steel Panther in 2008. They invented an own band-history in which they already exist since 1988 as an unsuccessful band in a time, too late for this kind of music. As their awareness level rose they decided to create own songs in the style of the songs they covered.
- 2003: Hole Patrol (under Metal Shop)
- 2009: Feel the Steel
- 2011: Balls Out
- 2014: All You Can Eat
- 2016: Live from Lexxi’s Mom’s Garage
- 2017: Lower the Bar
So if you're able to smile at the lyrics and enjoy the music, go check out more songs from them. It's really high quality music and the shows are damn powerful. Here's a slower ballad which could be a nice love song... if there weren't that lyrics :D
But they're too far away
If you were a hooker, you'd know
I'd be happy to pay
If suddenly you were a guy
I'd be suddenly gay
'Cause my heart belongs to you
My love is pure and true
My heart belongs to you
But my cock is community property
Unfortunately most of the songs are not visible in Germany if you're not logged in youtube with your account which proves you are older than 18. I don't know how it is handled in your country - but if youtube allows it, go check out the song Wasted Too Much Time ft. Corey Taylor. It's a great song with an awesome guitar solo!
Please let me know how you like them! I'm curious if the lyrics are too much for you or if you don't care about honest statements even when they're not political correct.
In this matter: please remember that most of the latest rap and hiphop videos and lyrics are the same and it's "normal".
