First I'll answer the question by saying kind of. I use to play fiddle in a few bands 20+ years ago but I stopped practicing since then and recently considered getting back at it.
I heard Jon Bekoff and Nate Paine playing a fiddle duo on youtube few years ago and I really enjoyed it. Since then Jon Bekoff passed away but it's my hope that his music will live on.
Last august I went back to "Say old man, can you play the fiddle?"
and on an impulse and without asking permission, I sampled some and orchestrated a piece around it.
I contacted Nate Paine, sent him my track and asked if he was ok with me sharing it and he graciously agreed.
