Many times I wondered, while watching a video or gig of P!nk, who her bassplayer was. She didn't looked any familiar so today I looked her up on the internet. Her name is Eva Gardner and besides and before she joined P!nk she already has a great trackrecord. She have had her own band(s), she tourd with Gwen Stefani and Cher and is quite the bassplayer.
The firts couple of times I saw her performing together with P!ink I always thought it was a act, that she wasn't a real bassplayer because she has (to me) a bit unnatural way of playing. But that is no judgement just my opinion :) She does look awesome, I have a weak for woman playing bass :)
Eva Garder started bassplaying because of her father, he was a bassplayer too. The coolest thing is that she plays a Fender Precission bass (just like her father) and a Ampeg SVT amp (Just like her father). So she really followed his footsteps which I think is great.
The Eva Gardner signature Precission bass
I watched a video this afternoon of a "Rig rundown" of Justin Derrico (P!nk's guitarist) and Eva. If you want to be flabbergasted, you have to watch this video. It is just unbelievable the gear the guitarist takes with him and how things are connected and switched, it is almost higher science. Compared to Eva who just has her Ampeg amp, one pedal and a Fender :).
In the next video is a interview with Eva about her musical aspirations and achievements. Great stuff to watch.
And of course Eva in action at a P!nk song...
Isn't it great to just be able to watch all these things online. I spend hours of looking at musicians outside the gig's themselves but more the 'behind the scenes' .... Often people think that it is all glitter and glamour, and in a sens of course it is, but it is hard work... long days and much more work then just the gig itself.
Have a great day
