I was going trough my CD's collection cause of the move which we are preparing for and ran into this album again. It was a long time since I listened to it but it is one of my favorite albums.
Altough the backline (drums and bass) sound a lot electronic on the songs, almost each song is legendary to me.
The album was released in 1987 (yeah, that long ago), and was the second studio album of Satriani. At that time he was a long haired guitar virtuoso, upcomming.
I got the album of my brother for my birthday and was completely hooked by it, it was something I never hearded before, his guitarplay.

Joe satriani was really renewing the guitar playing and music. He has been te teacher of Steve Vai and they have played many, many concerts together. Often bothe were a steady factor in the G3 concerts with always a great third guitarist. I had the honour to meet Joe (very short) after the gig in Rotterdam with G3.
The latest albums of Joe were not really my kind of music, a lot of effects (digital) without the emotion (personal opinion) of Surfing with the Alien. The self titled album "Joe Satriani" was also a great album, it had a lot of blues influences with some dark bluesy guitarplay. Worth while listening.
So what do you think about this album? Looking forward to your opinions..
Have a great day and rock on
