A couple of years ago, I dated a girl from Lithuania. Nothing exciting happened, it didn't get to that stage. I showed up late at the first date (and felt bad for it). She showed up late at the second date, probably on purpose. Afterwards, I moved to another city and we stopped dating. She disappeared from my life. But, there's something that she left me with that keeps reminding me of her and that I'm extremely thankful for.
She introduced me to the band 'Future Islands'. A group whose name alone - as goes for the movie Don't Look Now (1973) - intrigued me from the start. After hearing her mentioning this band as one of her favorites, I googled them. And, from that moment onwards, I became hooked. They have this one song - that they played at the David Letterman Show - that I can listen to again and again. As a matter of fact, I'm doing that right now. It's called 'Seasons (Waiting on You)'
I don't know if it has to do with my current state. I met a Spanish girl yesterday who I can't get out of my head, so I might be in a somewhat romantic mood.
Anyhow, listening to this song and Future Islands, always makes me feel good. It makes me feel. There's so much energy and feeling in these songs. I would recommend you to start with this songs and then search for the full album 'Singles'. Also make sure to check out this band's life performances. You should see the front man, Samuel T. Herring performing. His dance moves are one of a kind. I'm not religious but one thing is for sure, this man has found his vocation. He's totally in his element when he's performing. And the rest of the band, even though they hardly move, is great too.
You will find the song and music video above this post, and the lyrics here:
Seasons
Seasons change, and I tried hard just to soften you
The seasons change, but I've grown tired of tryin' to change for you
Because I've been waiting on you
I've been waiting on you
Because I've been waiting on you
I've been waiting on you
As it breaks, the summer awaits
But the winter washed whats left of the taste
As it breaks, the summer awaits
But the winter craved whats lost
Crave whats all gone away
People change, even though some people never do
You know when people change
They gain a piece but they lose one too
Because I’ve been hanging on you
I’ve been waiting on you
Because I've been waiting on you
I've been hanging on you
As it breaks, the summer awaits
But the winter washed whats left of the taste
As it breaks, the summer awaits
But the winter craved whats lost
Crave whats all
Crave whats all gone away
'Cause I've been waiting on you
