Recording Box 1.0
Four years ago, we took a leap of faith to start a recording studio business. We built our acoustic panels ourselves, painted our own walls and bought the studio equipment with our savings.
It was a proof-of-concept so to speak, but it was ours. Our very first recording studio.
We called it "Recording Box" because it was literally a small recording room in an office building. But we called it home.
This was the recording room:
This was the control room:
Our very first client was a shoe store that commissioned a jingle and promo video for their business:
We had a logo made for our brand. These are some of the design ideas that were presented to us by the graphic designer:
Eventually, our tiny box became to small for our business, so we had to look for a new place.

As luck would have it, we found a spot in an old art deco building from the 1930's. It was an old theatre and later cinema.
This is a photo of our building in 1989 when the movie Back To The Future II was being released:
This is what it looks like today:
We were able to buy some more gear, get some more clients and produce more music.
We also started posting on HIVE.
this is our very first on HIVE back in April 2019 (We still hadn't figured out )

Also, as part of any successful business, we developed a business plan and went to work. We are constantly working on our business model canvas to make sure we are delivering a value proposition to our clients.
But as with many things in life, the only thing that remains constant is change.
Today is the day that we say goodbye to our beloved studio where we've been since 2019.
We packed up all our equipment.
We tore down all the acoustic treatment.
And said farewell.
This is the last picture we'll ever take from the terrace of our old recording studio:

Today, we started moving all our stuff to a new location.
January 2022 will mark the beginning of a new era for us in a beautifully maintained old house in the heart of downtown Guatemala City.
complete with a garden
An outside area which we will most likely use for our live sessions and chillout area:
look at these doors!
and stairs!
And some beautiful hardwood floors too!
As you can see, there's a lot of work that needs to be done. But it will be an exciting new project for 2022 (and beyond?)
We hope to do live sessions every week to share with our amazing music community right here on HIVE, so stay tuned, stay safe and have a very happy new year!
Lots of love from the Recording Box family.
