nominated me for this challenge. I usually don't have the time to commit to daily challenges, but since it involves music, I am absolutely making an exception!
I was in band through middle school and high school. We were a small district so there was no separation between marching band and concert band. Being in the band was just being in the band.
I was in the percussion section and there was a guy in the grade above me that was (and still is) quite proficient. He was pretty spectacular on the kit even as a middle schooler and he still plays in a couple of local bands to this day.
One day he came in with his walkman and he said hey, I have this band you need to listen to. What I knew of music was pretty limited to what was currently on the radio and music from the 50's and 60's because that is what my parents listened to.
I put the headphones on and listened to something quite unlike I had ever heard before. Sure bands like Bon Jovi and Def Leppard were being played on the radio, but Hardline was a little too crazy for me at the time.
I never forgot the song though and these days I frequently find myself rocking out to it in my office!
I nominate for this challenge!
The rules:
Choose one song from your high-school/college years.
Write a few words about who made you listen to this song for the first time, what this song means to you (was it a breakup song? you blasted it at 100% on your audio system when you were partying with your friends?) whatever you want.
Write your text while listening to the song. As soon as the song ends, wrap up what you where writing and submit it.
Do this for 7 days in a row if you get nominated
Mention one person who should do this on each day.
Tag it with #musicwaybackchallenge and include these rules at the bottom of your post
