The early 80 years music where so great. It was the time of my life where school time ends and my first job startet.
All this years, a Britisch band took an important role. This was Marllion!
Thanks to my friend who nominated my for the #musicwaybackchallenge. You helped me to spend a few hours thinking to this time. A time where music was hand made and performed by people who have talent.
Marillion
In the era with Singer Fish
This band was doing a wonderful mix between the styles of punk rock and classic progressive rock called neo-progressive rock and Marillion was very successful with this new style.
Albums from Marillion
I love the early albums from Marillion. This are the years with Fish
Script for a Jester's Tear (1983)
Fugazi (1984)
Misplaced Childhood (1985)
Clutching at Straws (1987)
Marillion painted at the wall
In the mid eighties I was so much in Love with this band, that I got a friend of mine painting me a part of the album cover on a wall at my first flat.
The escaping harlequin from the Misplaced Childhood cover which was originally created by Mark Wilkinson - www.the-masque.com painted at my room.
This was so damn cool.
We had many evenings with that picture and I remember so many good old friends who had a beer with me there.
Marillion - Script For A Jester's Tear
A song which always comes with Goosebombs to me.
Marillion - Misplaced Childhood - Rock am Ring - 1985
I you look around carefully, you might see somewhere around at this festival in 1985 in Germany. What a great time.
Marillion - Lavender
Another so powerful song from Marillion with the voice from Fish
The man with THAT voice
Fish, the man with this enormous voice, was with Marillion only until 1988 and left the band due some problems with the manager.
There is a good read about this at the Wikipedia article where you as well get a lot more information about this so different band.
No Fish
No Marillion
