Wayback Music Challenge Day One
No “one” really made me listen to this song. While the music itself is enjoyable. The words are a big part of what makes this type of music special.
It’s hard to listen to this and think or write — without wanting to sing and without getting lost.
I don’t remember what age (12-14) I was when I started actively listening to this style of music versus it just being on in the background -around the house or in the car- growing up.
Loosely translated for the foreigners (here non-Greek speakers vs. non-Cretans) with my own attempt at poetics to try and keep the effect and meaning.
I see the how It ends me up
And how your love it melts me,
But where to find, the strength, shall I.
To leave away from near you.
Strength it needs, for you to love
Something which you have not.
For that, in the passions of love
Don’t join, as you cannot endure.
Thanks-giving day five:
mandinádes, fifteen syllable rhyming couplets
mandolíno with kondiliés
goats and sheep, that need to be herded
