I went out fishing with Mario last night. We delayed the 6pm planned departure because storm cells were clearly on our way by looking at the radar maps. At 7pm, despite the threat of rain still present (this summer we have to deal with it), we were on the lake aboard Mario's boat.
Barely 15 minutes of fishing and we already have a muskie on Mario's rod. Not a monster but that looks good for the rest of the night. In the next hour we raked up the area under rain and rainbows, but no other fish showed up.
Then we tried other fishing areas, but without success. We saved ourselves time to do one last area by casting.
After 30 minutes without seeing anything, I told Mario that we should try to troll the spot before going. A few minutes later it's "fish on" on my rod. This time it seems to feel like bigger head shakes. The muskie is tough and gives violent head shakes non stop. It's just a 42" but I still find it very sturdy for its length.
It was a beautiful fishing evening with my friend Mario. I hope that this is the real beginning of the season now and that there will be many others like that.
