Has escuchado la expresión: "Mente domina cuerpo", pues en los audios de crecimiento personal que escucho cada día, parece ser lo más recurrente, dicho de todas las maneras posibles, pero que en esencia es lo mismo: Domina tu mente y tu cuerpo te obedecerá, pero además, serás capaz de conseguir cualquier cosa. "Sufre ahora y no toda la vida", fue otra frase que captó mi atención, porque sí, lo que debemos por nuestras metas cuesta un esfuerzo enorme, nos saca de nuestra zona de confort, implica privarnos de algunos gustos, requiere una fuerza de voluntad tan grande que nos hará sufrir. Pero si somos fuetes y no cedemos a esa vocecita en nuestra cabeza que intenta justificar todo lo que no hacemos, será cuestión de tiempo para que lo que deseamos sea una realidad tangible.

But if we are strong and do not give in to that little voice in our head that tries to justify everything we do not do, it will only be a matter of time before what we desire becomes a tangible reality.

Un ejemplo claro para mí es cuidar mi cuerpo, con la alimentación adecuada y la actividad física que necesita. Suena algo sencillo ¿verdad? Pues si lo fuera no hubiera tanta gente enferma. Se requiere de una voluntad de acero para hacer lo correcto. No comer harinas, pastas, azúcar, leche, entre tantas otras cosas, no es fácil para mí, pero es necesario y, si no lo hago, el daño a mi salud me ocasionará sufrimiento el resto de mi vida. Igual pasa con el ejercicio, adoptar el hábito cuesta, pero el beneficio lo vale. Entonces, elijo sufrir ahora y no toda mi vida, y me alegra ser capaz de decir hoy esto.

A clear example for me is taking care of my body, with proper nutrition and the physical activity it needs. It sounds simple, right? Well, if it were, there wouldn't be so many sick people. It takes iron willpower to do the right thing. Not eating flour, pasta, sugar, milk, among many other things, is not easy for me, but it is necessary, and if I don't do it, the damage to my health will cause me suffering for the rest of my life. The same goes for exercise. Adopting the habit is difficult, but the benefits are worth it. So, I choose to suffer now and not my whole life, and I am happy to be able to say this today.

Por otro lado, quien no se esfuerza lo suficiente para superarse, tendrá placer momentáneo, así como aquellos que se divierten mientras otros pasan horas estudiando para aprobar un examen, o llegan muy tarde a casa porque estudian y trabajan; pero al pasar del tiempo, esas personas que se esforzaron tendrán más herramientas para avanzar en la vida que quienes no lo tomaron en serio. Además, como resultado, el carácter y la fortaleza de uno y del otro distan mucho y es obvio quien tiene más probabilidades de éxito, no porque tengan una carrera, sino por todo lo que tuvieron que superar para lograrlo. Aunque alguien no ejerza su profesión, su paso por la universidad no fue tiempo perdido.

Siempre he pensado que no quiero ser una carga para mis hijos y cuando lo pienso objetivamente, no he trabajado lo suficiente en eso; sin embargo, nunca es tarde para empezar, al menos mientras se tenga vida.
