Having a Hobby is very often expensive fun and time consuming "sport" and if you don't get support from your family and loved ones is hard to fulfill.
I consider myself very lucky because I managed to combine my hobby with my work.
made this great contest which gave me the opportunity to write about it. There is one rule in the contest which is that the post must have at least 1,000 words. My posts are usually shorter than that but in this case, when I am going to write about my passion it will not be a problem at all:)
To have some structure in this post I will answer the questions gave in his contest announcement post.
How did you picked this hobby? Or better yet, how did this hobby picked you?
Ok, I was and still am a gadget freak! By profession, I am a journalist and I worked as one for 15 years on Croatian National Television (HRT)
This is my ID card from that time :)
At that time my job was to make interviews, write a text for voice over speaker, to choose best sentences from my interlocutor and to combine best shots.
I had tv crew at my disposal- Cameraman, Soundman, Lightman, and driver of the van. This was my field crew. When I came back with the raw material I had at my disposal, voice over speakers, lectors, video editors. Iy my opinion It was too many people to depend on to make your video reportage done.
After 10 years working like that, I already knew all the secrets and rules of each profession involved in process of creating the reportage so I bought my first camera. It was mini dv camera with 3 chips, 4:3 format from Panasonic. Not sure about the model but similar to this one:)
This was a pretty big investment for me at that time but I quickly returned the invested;)
It was convenient for me to have it because sometimes I had nigh shootings and it was almost impossible to get tv crew-(they have union rights). So my first filmings ware mostly from the concerts, night events etc. I still didn't edit these materials but video editors were satisfied with them, so I was encouraged to continue. I just felted in love with the camera, discovering new features and possibilities, After while I started to travel with the camera and making tv stories from many countries and selling them to my Tv station. This is how my **VJ **(Videojournalist) career started. I filmed almost everything, from recipes, sports, made hundreds of interviews, documentary stories etc. and selling them, it was easy because I was inside the tv station on the payroll for my journalist assignments and bringing footage from my travels was always exclusive material for the editors and they were happy to have it on their shows. It became my side job and hobby at the same time.
Why do you feel passionate about your hobby?
Ok, I explained how I got into it but now is time to explain why and what made me love it!
If you ever played with LEGO you will undersend it easily- it is like building Lego house from point 0, making tv reportage from the scratch brings me the same feeling. Your story can go in million different ways and you start playing, First on the field while filming - choosing right cadre, light, what to put in it, choosing the angle, color, perspective, choosing people you film, choosing a subject of the story, what question to ask, how to communicate with your guest in story. This is just first step. After when you put your raw material into editing software you can go in another million ways building this "LEGO house", in my case reportage :) It is like painting from a blank canvas again! Choosing music, audio effects, combining all the time until you feel it right :)
Not to mention during this whole process -depends on what you are shooting - you can be surrounded by beautiful nature(travels)
or you are with interesting people(celebrities)
or you are in places and situations that no money can bay you.
How long have you been doing it...? Are you learning more and more every day?
ok, now I have to reveal my age, nothing to be ashamed of:) I am doing that now for almost 20 years. But constantly improving and adding new skills.
After I mastered my camera knowledge and my camera and gadget collection get much bigger- Nowadays I have few camcorders 4K resolution, dron, GoPro, tripods, light panels, wireless microphones, cable microphones, studio microphones, camera gimbals, stands, monitors, green screen canvases you name it:) All this stuff is very expensive but they make money so it almost cost me nothing except of my time. But as I explained in the text above I like to do it so is not a problem:)
I started to play with editing software, some animations, and green screen techniques.
To prove you how passionate about editing I am I will share some of my videos I made exclusively for Steemit and about Steemit:)

The diversity of tasks and having an opportunity to build something from scratch, from blank canvas always give you a extra motivation, I never ever said that I do not feel like working. Looking people around me so unsatisfied with their lives and job they are doing makes me even more aware how lucky I am. It doesn't matter if I am in front of the camera or holding it, I feel the same joy every time!
I like to create and produce staff, this is why I like Steemit that much too. As long I can manage to combine this two loves of mine - Producing video content and Steemit I will work hard and produce- because it is pure joy for me!
If you noticed my post is full of sign like this one :)
It is just because I am happy and excited about my hobby!
