Looking at the picture I took of my cousin's manger while visiting her reminded me of how much I was honored to host the Love Feast at our church this past Sunday. The Sunday after Christmas is a notoriously slow attendance day but I was happy to see that we had thirty people join us. Also known as the Agape Meal, this service is intended to remind us of the meals Jesus enjoyed with His disciples while he was practicing His ministry.
Attendees were encouraged to bring a covered dish. Besides eating, which seems to be a favorite activity of Methodists (lol), we prayed together and chose hymns to sing. I read from Psalms and Matthew and then led a discussion. I was impressed by the love that was displayed for each other. In addition, many attendees showed up early to help set up. The vibe in the room was so special that my better half suggested that we do more of these.
