Hi Friends,
This post is an entry into the weekly contest of where we show our California.
My family and I recently enjoyed a day celebrating the Boysenberry Festival at Knott’s Berry Farm. Knott’s is an amusement park which started out on a farm. Over time, more and more rides were added, and the amusement park outgrew the farm area, which relocated.
On the farm, they created a new berry known as the Boysenberry. Here is description of a Boysenberry, courtesy of Wikipedia:
The boysenberry /ˈbɔɪzənbɛri/ is a cross among the European raspberry (Rubus idaeus), European blackberry (Rubus fruticosus), American dewberry (Rubus aboriginum), and loganberry (Rubus × loganobaccus). It is a large 8.0-gram (0.28 oz) aggregate fruit, with large seeds and a deep maroon color.
Since the berry was created at this farm, there is an annual festival celebrating the Boysenberry where they infuse and use it in all sorts of things - from jam, to bbq sauce to ice cream. While at the festival this year, we tried a bunch of different foods highlighting the Boysenberry - they were all delicious!
We had a great time celebrating the Boysenberry Festival at Knott’s Berry Farm... what a great opportunity to have some fun here in Southern California!
Take care,
Brian
