On Twitter in November 2022, I noticed someone had posted about Somee.Social, the social media platform that pays (or something similar). It sounded intriguing. As someone who tests all platforms and constantly learns new things online, I wanted to try Somee as well. So I went ahead and registered.
Dear friends, I did not understand anything!
I was able to post, but I couldn't like anything. Well, that was what I was used to doing before, and I didn’t understand the principles of Hive at all. Naturally, at first, I had enough Hive and RC for only one random post. Everywhere I looked, people were talking about a lot of hive-jargon I didn't understand. And since I had just posted, I was not able to ask.
So, I started by posting once a month, got some “likes” on my posts, and I think that may have increased my HP enough so that I was also able to comment. All of this is a blur. It didn’t take long before I gave up. I only visited Hive every couple of months after that.
Some Hive users stuck with me. Whenever I asked questions, a kind soul, , patiently answered. My first publication was a proud announcement:
Your account has been successfully linked to Hivesigner 🤩.
Back then, I didn’t even understand what I was doing with Hivesigner; I just knew it was something I needed to operate on this platform. Then I discovered my posts were also available on Ecency, which made everything even more confusing for me.
Although I had joined Mastodon back in 2018, I hadn't connected the dots about the decentralized web at that point.
Looking back now, I have come a long way in just a couple of months. You see, I came back to Hive around December 22, 2025, asking what happened to Somee Social? And after that, I didn't leave, because I started to understand how this all works! Yay me!
I feel very welcomed here, and I haven’t had any bad experiences, despite a scammer taking my 16 HIVE a few weeks ago. But for that, I can only blame myself, because I was being too naive.
After being here for the past 3 months ... everything else outside Hive feels irrelevant.
