We were attending the Holi Colour Festival as my daughter was performing there with her school. We had planned to go, watch her perform and go... that didn't happen! :D
The kids were having fun getting covered in colour. After their performance I took a group down to where everyone was dancing to have some fun and take some photos for their end of year video. Everyone was so lovely, really welcoming and started covering us in colour as that's part of their tradition. We weren't expecting that didn't really want to get covered in colour, it was only my daughter who was dressed to be coloured. But it was too late... we embraced it and went with it and had an absolute BLAST!!
It was only last week I was reading a fellow steemian's blog about portrait photography and he said that as difficult as he finds it, he tries to ask complete strangers to take photos of them. I struggle with this idea too and asked about the responses he gets when he asks, as a lot of people don't like having their photo taken. He said he get more yes's that no's. I still wasn't comfortable with this... but at the festival I went for it. I did it and it was awesome!! :D I think in this situation though it is a lot easier to ask.
Well it was time for the "BIG COLOUR"!! WOW, WOW and more WOWS!
Amazing experience, who knew throwing colour in the air and getting completely filthy could be SO much FUN!!! :D
My kids had the best time!!! They were filthy, covered in layers and layers of coloured powder, living in a cloud of coloured dust and they were loving every minute of it!! They danced their hearts out and partied with these people we've never met before. So much for our clothes, lol, Mum will deal with that right! ; ) But seriously... it was the best day out and we'll be doing it again for sure!
Sometimes we make plans for one thing and another thing happens. You've just got to embrace it, go with it, live in the moment and have a damn good time doing it! : )
And that is "My Picture Day"! :D
