So, I'm done with the book and wanted to share Some final thoughts with you. I cannot justify liking this book in all honesty.. its just, I don't know, maybe its a good book and its just not vibing with me, and I'm going to tell myself that's okay. I don't have to conform to everyone's view of the book, if you liked it, well and great, but to me, this was definitely not a well executed book. The whole full circle thing is great and all, like its great that you tied every thing from the first and second book but to go all out extreme like that felt extremely forced. Also, everything tied full circle except Daniel Da Silva. Pip just hated the guy for legit no reasons at all. I knew he was going to be the red herring of the story, but literally every book had multiple chapters dedicated on why Daniel Da Silva is just this vile person and turns out he's not. (Also we never got to find out why his pregnant wife decided to make a random comment to a teenager that 'that's not the kind of girls he usually goes for') But anyways.. that is what it is.
The book was great for the first part of it, it portrays the element of Trauma very extensively and effectively to the point of making the reader uncomfortable and frustrated and I feel like that really hit its mark, and then given all the build up against the incompetencies of the police as well, I could understand the reasoning behind going for the cover up even if it was a little farfetched, and thus adding the cherry to the top by making sense of the Trilogy title, it gives a somewhat vague method on a guide to murder, but not really, but then the ending... Its just something I cannot come to terms with.. its so ... there's no other word for it.. its bad. Pip is supposed to be this person whos "listened to a lot of true crime podcasts", how can someone say that and not know that the most important thing, and you would think considering how she to a very high extent, but probably Ravi even more, knows that a Criminal Case needs to be proven without reasonable doubt, that there is no literally no other reasonable explanation that can come from the evidence provided at trial other than that it was the reason for the committing of the crime and that it convinces a jury of twelve members who all agree to the same, which is absolutely insane. How can Pip think that and how can Ravi be okay with it. Like someone literally just needs to be like Pip stop being such a control freak and shut up and let other people make their own decisions.
