Everything went well yesterday. Got my blood tests results and I'm healthier than I was 12 years ago (apparently that was the last time I went for a blood test and they still had my record.)
But we need to wait a couple more weeks to get the ultrasound sound done which times it perfectly for Hubby's birthday ~ so I don't really mind waiting.
The biggest downer is my bone broth.
I made it according to this recipe and even though I read that sometimes bone broth can be bad for you I figured I'd cross that bridge when/if I got to it, and I got to it last night when I had my second cup of broth for the day and a headache popped up.
And it's still up. But at least my knee feels better?
Today has been all about flushing my system with water, fruit, nuts and more fruit. Not quite willing to give up on bone broth I decided to make another batch.
New Method
I changed my method according to this. The first point of difference is the boiling of the bones BEFORE roasting.
Second is I seasoned the bones and added onions and garlic to the roasting pan, roasting for 30 minutes each side.
Also instead of only adding 1 tablespoon of apple cider vinegar, I went with 4. Also less vegetables and more aromatics.
To address the headache situation, instead of cooking the broth for 20 hours, I'm going with 12 hours this time around which means I'll be nursing this baby til midnight tonight.
I'll also be fast cooling it instead of letting it sit in the slow cooker to cool down like last time.
I hope this batch works! The other one gelled perfectly but if it's going to give me a headache then it's not worth it even though the knee feels tons better today!
Serious so surprised at how fast the bone broth works. Less joint clicks, easier movement and mobility. I can actually get up a lot easier with less pain. It hasn't felt this good in weeks.
So yeh! I don't really want to give up on the bone broth especially after reading how it's great for pregnant women.
I'm thinking too perhaps 2 cups of broth was a tad excessive? Does anyone know? I just figured the more the merrier?
Have you made bone broth? How do you make it? How long do you cook yours for and have you ever gotten a headache from it?
Lemme know!
Happy Tuesday peeps!
