A friend of mine advised me to check PARAGIS out to help my mom with her pneumonia last August. His intro was to check our backyard as it is that common in the Philippines. Mentioning it to my family, one of my brothers has already experienced brewing and drinking it. Not as a specific treatment but rather due to its' "healthy benefits". A common knowledge though in our place is its' diuretic effect, nothing else.
My mom, since her discharge from the hospital, has been receiving a concoction of paragis and lagundi tea, we think that she can't get anything more NATURAL and conservative medication than those. Throw in some lemongrass and she's all set. We can only hope and she's more than a month now at home, free of pneumonia.
Check those weeds out!
The benefits of Paragis
An article Paragis, the grass that cures listed a lot of conditions where it is found to be beneficial. Notable in the list are its' regulatory effect on the blood pressure, airway inflammatory protection and as a natural diuretic. Perhaps we were justified then in using Paragis on my mom where 3 injectables and the strongest antibiotics were not at all effective. In addition to another 2 oral antibiotics she had to take on discharge.
The same site listed these potential benefits:
- Airway inflammatory processes
- Apoptotic induction activity
- Antiplasmodial/antidiabetic
- Nutritional potential/fodder
- Hepatoprotective/antioxidant
- Pancreatic Lipase Inhibitory Activity/Obesity treatment potential
- Anticonvulsant
Please check the site for the explanations on each one. These are just deemed beneficial where further research needs to be done to have more data on Paragis efficacy.
Paragis as an antioxidant
In the same note, what made me wonder though are the contents of its' leaves from the same article, where apparently, PARAGIS is believed to contain silicon monoxide, Calcium oxide and chlorine. I am familiar with the last one, CHLORINE, as an #antioxidant. Perhaps might be interested on this one, in connection with his recent post regarding chlorine dioxide.
The natural one OR...
the Chlorine dioxide molecule
Chlorine is known as a water purifier where any pool around the world is full of it or in our aquariums. Its' hazard though is its' by-product where it's considered as carcinogenic, the reason that it's banned in some places.
Its' cousin Chlorine dioxide is a different matter.
...this one?
The web is full of articles about a Miracle Mineral solution or MMS. Although it's not approved by the FDA, a lot of its' users' and their testimonies of its' healing properties abound.
Chlorine Dioxide is an oxidizing agent that readily accepts electrons - known as "electron donors". This is an important distinction to understand, as virtually ALL pathogenic stressors & diseased tissue are effectively destroyed - whilst healthy tissue & cellular structures within the body are entirely spared.
MMS or Paragis?
To the world, MMS is more accessible. Or maybe not. Our MMS was ordered in Australia, whereas before, we were ordering it from the US. This being labeled as a water purifier. With Paragis, perhaps somewhere, it is also accessible. But how brave is anyone to wanna try it? With all these potential benefits and a potential nutritional value, ANYONE?
This shot was taken in our backyard, and those Paragis are not grown nor need looking after. A wild weed that grows in any space they could find so a nuisance in childhood when we were asked to pull them out when cleaning the garden of weeds. Who would have thought back then that they have any value rather than food for our neighbours' goats and perhaps their cows? Found anywhere in people's backyards, along roadsides, paths, by the fields, they are locally found and everywhere!
If further research will be done for their health benefits and curative efficacy, will there ever a need for pharma? Interestingly, will the medical practitioners prescribe them?
It's a WEED.
This post is a response to 's contest of sharing the world's LOCAL medicines, modalities and remedies that are beneficial to humanity. If local means to just get out from the kitchen door to access medicine, then there's not much difference in going out and picking out some herbs, fruits or vegetables in the back garden when in need of a medicine.
