This has probably happened to most new users when they first come on to Steem: you put your heart and soul into a writing what you believe to be a fine piece of literature, only to discover it gets a small handful of votes with a payout of $0.01
With the advent of the naturalmedicine.io platform which showcases content related to natural medicine, health, and healing brandishing the #naturalmedicine tag we've been drawing in a lot more talent. People from all over the world are coming and sharing their folk-knowledge and wisdom and being curious about the healing wonders of the natural world.
And we've only just started the push beyond the Steemiverse.
New content creators on naturalmedicine.io often write some interesting stuff, but fail to garner much in the way of LOTUS rewards on their post. Curators have been telling us that they'd love to give the posts more, but hold themselves back because they don't quite meet their standards and expectations.
Which is why we have started the Content Creation Mentor Program in the Natural Medicine community.
What is it?
Any new user or content-creator on naturalmedicine.io can get 1-on-1 assistance and guidance from experienced members of the Natural Medicine Tribe, creators who have spent a lot of time honing their craftsmanship and are consistently getting good rewards for their posts.
They will guide and advise you on how to present your content in the best possible light whilst still retaining your unique and individual voice.
It may include things like:
- spelling & grammar
- layout
- formatting & use of markdown code
- citing references & copyright
- use of images
- appropriate use of tags
- understanding the game of creation & curation
- SEO
- ...and other Steem-related matters
Having the Content Guidelines certainly helps you not get your work 'downlotussed', but we also feel passionate about educating new users and having naturalmedicine as a space for people new to the world of blogging/content creation to grow and cultivate their passion for natural medicine, health, and healing.
Like the lotus, rising up out of the mud into the sunshine!
How does it work?
The Mentor Program involves a very small one-off fee of 15 LOTUS which will be burned. This price will rise according to demand.
LOTUS can be purchased through the Steemleo DEX or through Steem-Engine.
Then you head into the Lotus Mentorship Channel in the NM Discord and announce yourself and a volunteer mentor will touch base with you, and you can begin your personal conversation with them.
If you're not sure about any steps of the process, drop into the Lotus Mentorship Channel anyway and you will be guided the whole way.
While the Mentor Program will mostly focus on creating Natural Medicine content, the skills, hints, and tips you learn will be broadly applicable across the whole of Steem, and for content creation/blogging in general.
We're not promising that you'll be able to buy a Lambo with your STEEM or LOTUS after this — at the end of the day you're still responsible for the quality of the content you put onto the blockchain. We hope however that you'll move through those minor hurdles which can make the difference between being seen and being noticed.
