We eat bananas all year round in our family. We eat them as a healthy snack, slice them into our oat porridge, add them to our smoothies and in the evening we like to slice one into a mug of hot milk ๐ฅ.
We make delicious banana bread with walnuts which is a treat and makes a good offering when we are visiting family and friends. When bananas are too ripe to eat (covered in spots and bruised), we slice and freeze them to add to banana bread.
A favourite snack is chewy banana which is dried banana with rice flour. It is very high in fibre, sweet and delicious ๐.
Bananas are nutritious and contain fibre, potassium, vitamins B6 and C, magnesium, manganese, copper and antioxidants.
The fruit is reputed to moderate sugar levels, reduce appetite, aid digestion and weight loss, support heart health and risk of kidney disease.
You may have seen tennis players snacking on bananas at Wimbledon ๐พ. Bananas help to relieve muscle cramp and provide an excellent source of nutrition for exercise.
