The most popular cereal of Central American origin is corn (Zea Mays), it is the most widespread crop and occupies the first place in vegetable production, contributing a significant percentage to this productive subsector, which makes it one of the most important crops in the country.

In these states, 95% of the country's crops are cultivated and approximately 80% of Venezuela's total commercial production is produced.
Today it is cultivated in almost all the small plantations of the states of the country in production systems of small producers for subsistence reasons in conucos in areas of slopes and meadows or associated with other crops. But it is also cultivated with modern techniques because it is the raw material for several industries such as precooked flour or roasted corn flakes.
Like many other crops, the development of corn will depend on the agronomic practices to which it is subjected and among them, soil management is one of the most important that is carried out in the cultivation of this crop.
It is the one that allows it to create a favorable environment from the physical, chemical and biological point of view for the development of the root system.
