What is acid rain
Acid rain is a rain loaded with acids suspended in the atmosphere as a result of evaporation and dissolved in water when the conditions of rainfall, and is one of the most dangerous natural phenomena (caused by human) to the environment as it affects all types of human life, animal and plant and even soil and water.
Acids (in the form of small molecules or aerosols) may be suspended by air or slightly larger particles and fall and settle on the soil, water or other surface.
The direct cause of this serious environmental problem is the smoke generated by the combustion process and the release of toxic gases such as chlorine, nitrogen oxides, sulfur and carbon dioxide. The direct cause of the emission of these gases and oxides harmful to the air is the smoke of factories and the process of combustion from various sources of energy, such as oil, gas, coal, shale oil and others. This phenomenon has been discovered after the occurrence and precipitation of rainfall on the soil, where some scientists have observed a rise in acidity of the soil. The evaporation of these toxic gases and their combination with atmospheric dust or water atoms (depending on the ratio of air humidity) helps to form these acids and remains in the air until they have the opportunity to precipitate after the condensation of droplets around them.
As for the effects and effects of acid rain, they are divided into two parts:
The first is the size of the damage and the effect which depends on several factors including:
Precipitation pH (acid concentration)
The amount of rainfall falling on a specific spot of dimensions (the quantity here is meant on how much of the area covered).
Duration of precipitation.
The nature of the chemical composition of the thing to which this rain falls.
The second is the bodies affected by the fall of these rains, namely:
Human: It directly affects the skin and respiratory system if it falls directly, and the indirect impact on human pollution of plants and water used by humans, it affects him on the inside of serious digestive and reproductive systems and others.
Soil: The soil affected by this rain was affected, which resulted in decreased activity of nitrogen-fixing bacteria, and decreased decomposition rate, which hindered the penetration of water into the soil, which in turn reduced the productivity of plants.
The importance of trees and vegetation in the process of photosynthesis, oxygen production and the disposal of carbon dioxide in the use of plant metabolism, as well as the use of trees for wood production, is also important.
- Seas and lakes: These rains affect marine life and lead to the killing of whole species. Studies have already shown that there is a very large decline in the number of living marine organisms under study.
- Animal: Human, plant and water are affected by these rains as well as animals are also affected and do not forget that the impact of animals especially included in human food also indirectly affect the human.
In fact, God Almighty created this universe and made it walk in infinite precision, and a normal life cycle of everything, and that any defect occurs in any part of the cycle of normal life affects directly and indirectly on the rest of the components in the life cycle. It is known that the acidic substance corresponds to an alkaline or base material, and using these materials can be found solutions to this phenomenon resulting from human action in the first place and behavior, and these solutions include:
Control the factories and places of use of the materials that produce these toxins and put them in the air and control the disposal and disposal of these wastes.
Treatment of soil and water surface with alkaline or alkaline materials.
Raising people's awareness of these dangers and trying to find alternative solutions to the sources of energy that cause these gases.
