“When the world was created, the god Tha once thought: "Today we will create the last miracle of nature and this will complete the universe." And he created us a land so beautiful that evil and good spirits were surprised by the grandeur and beauty of this land.
As soon as Tha retired to rest, evil and good spirits entered into a fierce battle for possession of only a beautiful corner. Standing on the outskirts of the Caucasus, the evil from the west, the good from the east, they tore up huge tracts of land, whole blocks of rocks and threw each other, more and more coming together in hand-to-hand fighting. From the carnage, the terrified young earth was buzzing.
The noise awakened the resting Tha and he became angry when he saw what was turned into his majestic creation, which he considered the crown of creation. From the north and from the south he called the winds of heaven, and ordered the fighters to freeze in place and harden. When the dust dispersed, the whole region was closely piled up by mountains, huge rocks and ravines. Petrified spirits-giants formed here a majestic mountainous country and smoked for a long time, begging for Tha forgiveness. But he did not forgive them and ordered the plants to cover the petrified nature, and to wash the waters off the slopes. The land regained its beauty, and the rivers and streams in the empty spaces dug during the battle formed the two Black and Caspian seas.”
With this legend, I want to start my post about a hike to the mountain "Big Thach" in Adygea.
The word "Thach" in the translation from Adygea means "Eternally young God". It's like an eternal monument to ancient legends and culture. The height of this mountain is almost two thousand four hundred meters. Especially striking is the southern, steep slope of the mountain. Rising vertically upwards for hundreds of meters, its majestic cliffs resemble the impregnable bastions of the Romanesque castle.
Morning transparency of the air allows you to see the first rays of the sun, appearing first on the very tips of the top of the mountain.
And here is our tent.
The trek was not easy. The fog blocked our way, but made it possible to make unforgettable shots.
Our goal is far away. The second photo for comparison and understanding of distance.
Here are some more successful shots:
The unique fauna of this corner of nature also allowed us to take pictures of its inhabitants:
The path was long and tiring, we were rescued by frequent halts.
Then there was an overnight stay in the mountains.
It's a beautiful morning.
There is a legend that the cave on the slope of the Big Thach hides the gold of the Kuban Cossack Rada. Part of the White Cossack army, accompanied by a train with precious cargo, retreated here to the sea. To manage to escape from the Red Army pursuing them, the Cossacks decided to hide the gold in an unknown cave, where it is still waiting for some lucky treasure hunter.
Some official information:
The Big Thach mountain range, located on the border of the Republic of Adygea and the Krasnodar Territory, is one of the most beautiful peaks of the Western Caucasus. The Adyghe massif is a part of the "Big Thach" nature park, which was included in the UNESCO World Heritage List in 1999.
