The Huntington Gardens is one of my favorite places in Los Angeles.
Its desert garden is one of the world's oldest and largest collection of succulents, agave and cacti.
This display of yellow-spined Golden Barrel Cactus reminds me of a Dr. Suess like world.
I've always loved the colors and textures of agave plants clustered together like this.
The garden's Aloe section boasts 200 of the world's 300 aloe species. In the winter, the pictured Aloe arborescens blossoms with a unique colorful burst of orange-red flower stalks.
