Good evening, folks. Tonight's Daily Nature Fix is going to be a few photos from our trip to Alaska last month. Aside from northern Montana, Alaska has some of the most spectacular mountains we've ever seen. Actually, Alaska might have a slight edge in that competition because it's peppered with glaciers as well. I mean a LOT of glaciers. The state boasts some 100,000 of these ice features.
^^^This was taken while cruising along the coast of Glacier Bay National Park. You can see a little glacier sitting in the cradle of those mountain peaks. Sadly, these smaller glaciers are living on borrowed time.
^^^This was taken outside of Juneau. We saw some cool sockeyed salmon and a black bear with cubs along this trail. Definitely one of the highlights of the trip.
^^^I just liked the clouds (or fog) clinging to these mountains outside of Skagway. These mountains are enormous and such a cool feature to have as a backdrop to the little town. You can see a train tracks at the bottom which takes passengers deep into the Yukon.
^^^Though we didn't plan it this way, we happened to be in the area during their very short fall season. The trees and shrubbery were displaying their autumn colors, especially the aspen trees, which were bright yellow. This view is looking over the Nenana River. It has a milky blue color to the water caused by the glacial silt, as it's fed by melt waters.
