What a moment!
I have never been face to face with such Alien life.
My girlfriend called me over to look at the "bug" in our garden. I can assure you that is no bug... and honestly that beautiful mess might not actually be a garden, or maybe my western sensibilities of equally spaced tomatoes and cucumbers is narrow---->it is! Our garden ROCKS it is a magical new planet.
I have never seen a "Praying Mantis" in real life until now, only in books and movies. I am not against bugs, let me say being a bug is good enough. That said, calling a Praying Mantis a bug is not enough at all. I am a huge fan of Aliens, I study them almost daily. I know aliens. My head, my heart, my soul are all telling me in no uncertain terms that "insect" is actually an AWESOME fricken Alien! Right in our garden!
I have a picture to prove it. What do you say? Alien or Bug??

Speaking of the garden. Know that just this spring there lay a crusty cockroach laden(this is Albuquerque, Roach USA) cracked up piece of pavement on the North side of our little rental.
One promise kept by our landlord led to a sweet contractor arriving with just the right tools to smash through a nice section of this asphalt non-sense, exposing pure sand!
Sand is not optimal for much gardening. (or so I thought)
Reality is this is my girls terrain and she is magic. (I did pick out the sunny flower seeds) Despite a very late planting (in SAND) everything coming up from seeds tossed down, and really dry-100 everyday heat, we have a forest of green friends over 12 feet tall on their way twenty I am sure of it!
Yah, she waters it twice a day. Maybe suspect for desert life, I can however assure you no chemicals were allowed to harm. We are conscious ya see! ---->Public service: PUT DOWN THE MIRACLE GROW IT IS NASTY SH#T, for real!
This garden is filled with ALIEN life, or at least life foreign to this path of beauty. Before the garden there was not much (cockroaches do count a little)
NOW, every single day there are butterfly's, humming birds, finches and birds of all sorts, bees of every color, sink bugs, mice and just an abundance of newcomers with no name I have tongue for. Where do they all come from?? And now this Mantis. WOW!
