This is How We Fight Deforestation in the UK
My good steemit friend, , wrote a very interesting post about deforestation.
Following on from that post, I wanted to show how we fight deforestation in the UK.
We have some ancient forest like these:
38Degrees
Sherwood Forest
As you see, Sherwood Forest has very old trees. It is a national monument and home of Robin Hood.
Outdoor Lads
The Forest of Dean
The Forest of Dean is famous here for its night walks.
In the UK, we must replace any tree that is cut down. Also, new trees are planted. In forests, parks and streets this is overseen by forestry commision wardens and the local councils. The saplings are grown on their land, then replanted.
"What happens if a member of the public cuts down a tree in their own garden?" you might ask.
People donate a tree to their local park or to the grounds of a stately home.
I took this photo yesterday of some saplings growing in my recreation ground that is just 5 minutes from my house.
They have been donated by people who cut down trees in their gardens.
This works well for us. How does your country replace trees?
Thank you for viewing!
