The tiny wren is probably a bird that you never see. Quite a common bird in number but a rare bird in sightings.
These tiny birds seem to spend a lot of time creeping around the base of plants and around the lower branches of bushes. As an insect eater they struggle to find food in winter.
The Wren is a very timid bird and you never seem to notice them. You may see a movement or a shadow under a bush or around the base of plants. But you very rarely get a good look at the Wren
I spent a day last summer making some wren boxes and dotting them around my garden. Hopefully this year i get lucky and one builds a nest in one.

The Wren
The wrens are mostly small, brownish passerine birds in the mainly New World family Troglodytidae. The family includes 89 species divided into 19 genera.
Scientific name: Troglodytidae
Did you know: Wrens are Britain's most common breeding bird, but their small size and reliance on insects mean they perish easily during prolonged periods of cold weather.
