There are still people who do not quite believe in the existence of climate change nor the dramatic effects of climatic change. Recently, I had the fortune (or misfortune) of personally experiencing (in the company of my couch-surfers) the dramatic impact of weather change. In this particular case: Impact of thunder storm on a local water-fall at AhPek / Saga Hill, Cheras, Selangor, Malaysia which is near my social project known as Hypercube @ SOHOLAND.(See Introduction: https://steemit.com/introduceyourself/@erico47/self-introduction-making-housing-affordable-as-a-social-business-using-blockchain ).
On a normal day, the water-fall is scenic and inviting as shown in the following video:
However, the on-site condition during thunderstorm was completely changed beyond recognition:
Other observations (to those with keen eyes only) during and after the stormy condition included the serious soil erosion at exposed / deforested areas causing formation of gullies; water pollution and silting of down-stream area; and change of vegetation cover in silted area, resulting in fauna migration etc. These are preliminary ecological changes which have substantial cumulative and lasting effects for future generations. Seriously, this is an existential threat not to be taken lightly.
All these are never obvious to the casual observers. It is only through something dramatic (such as a big thunder-storm or big flood) that our attention is brought to the existential issue facing mankind.
