Hi there,
This is my pet crayfish, Jeremy! He's an Australian freshwater crayfish. The common name is Yabby, the scientific name is Cherax Destructor (seriously).
Pictured: The Cherax Destructor. Or by the common name: "Ohhh hey there".
Jeremy is quite happy living on his own in the tank. I keep telling him that he's old enough for a girlfriend... He's just a free spirit I guess.
Jeremy died last week. Or at least I thought as much when I went out to his tank. I assumed the emptiness ate him up inside, but it turns out he just did a moult. Moulting is a very stressful time for a crayfish, so I give Jeremy the respect he deserves.

There are thousands of species of freshwater crayfish, found all over the world. In America they're called crawdad or mudbugs. If you ever get close to a crayfish, you'll see that each one has its own unique personality. So here I leave you with a candid picture of Jeremy:

Back next week with more of Jeremy's adventures!
