Today I discovered a beautiful flower
In Greek it is called πλουμί, its Latin name is Ebenus Cretica
It is said that people used to fill their pillows with these in the past
And how could they not? They seem so soft
As I am reading online:
Ebenus cretica, also known as Cretan ebony, is a rare and beautiful flowering plant endemic to the island of Crete. It grows mainly in rocky and mountainous areas and is easily recognized by its soft silvery leaves and vibrant pink-purple flowers.
In the past, people in Crete valued the plant not only for its beauty but also for practical uses. Shepherds and villagers sometimes used it as animal fodder, while its strong roots helped prevent soil erosion in dry mountain landscapes. In traditional Cretan culture, wild native plants like Ebenus cretica were also appreciated as part of the island’s natural heritage and biodiversity. Today, it is considered an important endemic species and a symbol of Crete’s unique flora.
I had not visited that hill for sometime and today I went there actually to take some cloud shots
It seems that the weather is about to change
Tomorrow again, I will be away most of the day. However I strongly believe that soon I ll be able to catch up with everything that’s new here
Thanks for your time!
