The Eye of Shiva, sometimes also called Shiva Shell or Pacific Cat’s Eye is a natural gem stone that comes from the ocean - yey!
When and I went on this tiny island in Indonesia we found these beautiful little stones all along the shore and fell in love with them! We then found out that they are not only wonderful to look at, but also have a wonderful backround story and amazing protective and healing properties :)
So what is a Shiva Eye? It is actually a protective covering for the entrance to a snails shell, can you believe it? Also
recognized as mermaids’ money, it is thought to be a lucky charm for the fishermen.
The name of Shiva Eye is kept after Lord Shiva, which is a major Indian God worshipped not only in India but also in various other countries of this world. Moreover, Lord Shiva has the third eye on the centre of the forehead, which in this case is linked to the Shiva Eye gem stone. The gem is thought to open the third eye of a person, which is known to look towards the inside world, instead of the outside world that are perceived through our 2 'normal eyes'.
As it gives us the vision of the third eye, it is believed to enhance the wearer’s intuition and understanding. It is a stone which is associated with life history and successful flow. It can be used for meditation better understanding of the self.
Exactly what we need, right my fellow yogis? So keep your eyes open next time you walk on the beach, maybe you are lucky enough to find one of these beautis!
