Watch this video of thousands of Tree Swallows! Tree Swallows are very small birds. Their length is 5.7 inches 14.6cm and Weigh only .7 oz or 20g. Believe it or not this is considered a medium sized swallow. Tree Swallows can be found everywhere in the United States at one time of the year. They do migrate from North to South in the winter. They usually travel in large flocks. Tree Swallows eat mostly insects that they catch in flight. A large group of tree swallows is called a "stand" of swallows. I like these birds, especially when there are thousands of them. you might have seen a precious blog of mine that I had a video with millions of them.
Tree Swallows are very hard to get a picture of. I do have a few I took myself, but they are not very good. Here are two that I got from iBirdpro with the credit to the photographer.
And flying.
Here is a picture I got on Google Maps of The Celery Fields area.
Thanks for watching!
