Thousands of Sandhill Cranes migrate from the northern Rocky Mountains and spend their winters along the Rio Grande in New Mexico at Bosque del Apache National Wildlife Refuge, south of Socorro.
They usually arrive at the end of October and stay through February. We were there in early January, and enjoyed a day of watching them.
