On wheels to Arado waterfall (Gerês Portugal)
the Arado waterfall is located in the center of the Peneda-Gerês National Park. It is one of the largest and most famous waterfalls in the park. Located on the Arado River, close to the villages of Ermida and Miradouro Pedra Bela, it can be reached by an empty forest road, surrounded by sand and dense vegetation. At least in summer, there is not much water in the river, but there is always someone who draws clean, fresh water from the river.
It is located at an altitude of about 900 meters, forming a series of unique waterfalls between the rocks. On the right side of the river (facing north), there are a series of steps that can take us to a small perspective at the top to contemplate the waterfall in all the vegetation. It is a good place to observe the waterfall, but it can be difficult in dense vegetation for months, but it is the simplest and fastest passage.
It is possible to enter the base of Cascata do Arado from this point of view, but it is a very dangerous and steep passage, just the most adventurous, but proceed with caution. The best way is through the bridge, close to where the car is parked, you can reach the bottom of the waterfall through the stone, avoiding the small puddle formed.
