Not even flowering weeds.
I'd say that is a blossoming herbalist. She's got an appetite for knowledge and she likes to live a simple, healthy, natural life. Each day we try to learn and apply, and as situations arise, we make the most of our opportunities. Today, some of the
and I harvested a Mother's Day present for her.
THE GIFT OF "WEEDS!"
This was no ordinary weed, this was Mullein. We first learned of this incredible plant from a midwife years ago, and have been using it ever since. It has many potential uses, but we like to focus on the decongestant capabilities. Each summer we now try to collect some to have dried Mullein leaves on hand for the winter, or any other time that we may need some.
The actually have years' worth of experience at this now, so they got right to work. We not only like them to be able to understand the benefits of certain plants, but how to safely harvest them as well. With these we never take all the leaves, but instead harvest some select leaves off each plant, leaving plenty of leaves to keep each plant healthy and living.

If you notice the one that Monster Truck is working on, you can see a good leaf selection. Not only is it a free gift for , but the
got the opportunity to do the work of collecting it themselves. We'll still clean and dry them together, but the majority of the work collecting them was all the
!
When delivered, we found out that these were truly a perfect gift for that special mom in our lives. Yup, a true herbalist! Wild plants excite her! Not only will this harvest always be remembered as the "Mother's Day batch" that the harvested, it's one more summer task that we've already begun! We did have a lot of fun collecting the leaves too, and I had a great time photographing my children. Here are a couple photos of each child.
